Congratulations to member Linda Green who has earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the Esteves School of Education at Sage College. Dr. Green did her research in high poverty New York City elementary schools on the influence of instructional leadership practices on ELA teaching strategies.

We are proud to announce that our Director, Randy Asher, has accepted a new position at the Department of Education. Randy has been asked by Chancellor Farina to direct and oversee the initiative to shrink the costly Absent Teacher Reserve system presently in place. We congratulate our Director. He has done wonderful things as the Principal of Brooklyn Technical High School, and now leaves that awesome responsibility in the capable hands of Academy member David Newman.

Brian O'Connell, Principal of the Scholars Academy in District 27 is being honored as "Educator of the Year" by the New York Families for Autistic Children Foundation on March 2nd at Russo's on the Bay. Brian is humbled and honored by this great tribute. He has worked diligently to service many students with Individual Educational Profiles, and has substantially increased the number of targeted students serviced by the Academy. Congratulations to Denise Schira, who was re-elected to serve on the CSA Executive Board representing Education Administrators, Directors, and Committee on Special Education Chairpersons citywide through 2019.

Congratulations to Marvin Goodman, who will be honored by CSA on November 5th at the New York Hilton. Marvin is being recognized as "School Supervisor Retiree of the Year" for his great contributions concerning the history of the Association and his continued work on behalf of retirees.

Michael Kohlhagen was named by the Board of Directors of the Center for Educational Innovation as their Executive Director on July 1, 2016.

Jacek Polubiec has attained a Doctorate in educational leadership from Fordham University.  Jacek's research and study was entitled "In Supporting Intrinsic Motivation."

Denise Schira was honored by the Latino Caucus of CSA on June 9, 2016. Her son, Devan Schira, was married to doctoral candidate, Alexandra Mercurio, on June 18, 2016.

Nancy Westerband, Ed. D., retired on June 30, 2015 as the Supervisory Support Program Coordinator (a mentoring program for CSA supervisors, a joint collaboration of CSA and DOE), and is being honored at the Association of Assistant Principals at their annual conference on October 17, 2015 at the LaGuardia Airport Marriott in Queens.

Dr. Vincent Bellafiore was honored by the Wagner College DaVinci Society and presented with the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the 12th Anniversary Scholarship Dinner on September 17, 2015.
