David Bloomfield

Professor David Bloomfield is a name well known in the New York educational community. There isn’t an education concern that David is not at the forefront of addressing. Professor of Education Leadership, Law and Policy at Brooklyn College and CUNY Graduate Center, David discusses in his daily newspaper articles and periodicals issues regarding many concerns. These concerns cover school diversity, admissions to specialized high schools, online remote teaching/learning and unprecedented disruptions in learning with insight regarding the impact and effect on students’ learning needs.

Honored and named to City and State New York magazine’s Education Power 100, New York’s most powerful leaders in education based on their achievements, influence in policy making, connections to key government officials and constituencies they represent.

Professor Bloomfield brings broad professional background to his work. His experience includes public, independent, and religious education; public and private law practice; school district administration; government agency.

And elected official staff positions; not for profit management; and higher education. David’s impressive career includes positions as elementary and middle school teacher, General Counsel, New York City Board of Education, General Counsel and Senior Education Advisor to the Manhattan Borough President and Executive Director for public education programs at the Partnership for New York City.

As Director on The Board of Directors of the New York Academy of Public Education, David’s expertise, knowledge and political power contribute greatly to the Academy’s vision and ideals.
