Congratulations to the Following Academy Members

Nancy Westerband, Ed. D., retired on June 30, 2015 as the Supervisory Support Program Coordinator (a mentoring program for CSA supervisors, a joint collaboration of CSA and DOE), and is being honored at the Association of Assistant Principals at their annual conference on October 17, 2015 at the LaGuardia Airport Marriott in Queens.

Dr. Vincent Bellafiore was honored by the Wagner College DaVinci Society and presented with the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the 12th Anniversary Scholarship Dinner on September 17, 2015.

Lucie M. Elio will receive the Monique Rudel Special Service Award from the Louise-Aimee & Monique Rudel Scholarship Fund, Inc. at Antun’s, Queens Village on Sept. 22nd.

Joseph LaCascia will be honored by the Association of Assistant Principals at their annual Conference on Nov. 16th at the LaGuardia Marriott.

Mark Cannizzaro will be honored on May 9th at the St. John’s Phi Delta Kappa dinner. Dr. Michael F. Capobianco is now giving private lessons in Mandarin Chinese. He has developed his own methods for English-speaking students, and also his own system for helping them to learn characters.

Dr. Phillip Composto is being honored for his outstanding contributions to the field of education at the Eighth Annual Leaders in Education Awards Dinner at St. John’s University.

Ernest A. Logan has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Independent Budget Office. He will also be honored at the Labor Luncheon at the SOMOS spring conference on March 23 in Albany. On May 9th he will be honored by Friends of DaCosta Headley at their “Celebrating an Evening with Champions: Honoring the Exemplary Service of Today’s Leaders” event.

Bill Moore, 2007 Cahn Fellow, who has acted as Interim Program Director for the past two months, has been appointed Program Director of the Cahn Fellows.
